ANIME COMING SOON TO AUSTRALIA -

Anime in Australia looks like it is almost dead, with very few titles to look forward too this year. Still there are a few, maybe.

* RELEASED, yes the rest of Astro Boy, was released by Siren Entertainment. This will release the 21 episodes, 7 tapes, that got left out in the origanal release.

* RELEASED, the great anime TV series Neon Genesis Evangelion, released by MadMan Entertainment and Siren Entertainment (I think so). For those who have not heard of N.G.E. it is a great giant robo anime with a mix of comedy and drama.
The dubbed version has been completely released and some of the subbed version.

* Perfect Blue, this seems to be a promising title not only is it a thriller, it is done by Madhouse how I consider one of the best animation companies around. The screen shots I have seen look very good. Perfet Blue even won an award!( THE BEST Asian Film at FANTASIA '97). No set release date, released bySiren Entertainment.

* For Kiseki Films has a number of up coming titles with no release dates,
Dragon Ball - Dragon Ball is a very big and popular TV and comic series. The main charecter is based on the Monkey King and has a lot of matrial arts action. I have only seen the first episode, the Hong Kong version, so I don't know much.
The American version is censored and it is unkown if it will be uncensored for the Australian release, lets hope.
Other titles being planned for release include El Hazard and Final Fantasy.

* Sometime in the '99 expect to see Kiki's Delivery Service, a classic childerns movie by Studio Ghibli. It has a nice story and great animation but really is made more for the younger age groups.
This is the first Studio Ghibli for Buena Vista, Disney's other name, who own the international rights to all of Studio Ghibli films.
There are two good points to this release, one, it will open up a whole new audience to anime and secondly Phil Hartman (News Radio & Simpsions) does one of the voices.
The bad point is that it is Disney!!!!!!!!!!

ANIME ON TELEVISION -

* Well it is a very sad fact that there is only two anime TV series currently on air.Neon Genesis Evangelion a top drama (as mention above) is about to go into repeats on SBS. Unfortunatly it is dubbed and in my opinion the dubbed version is no good.

* Also showing is Pokemon, this show is on channel TEN. It is screening at 7:30am.
